Frames From The Weekend 3/29/2013 – 3/31/2013

Aaaand I’m back for my weekly check in! My computer is still out of commission but hopefully I’ll find time this week to make it to the Apple Store. Seriously, I have no idea how I’ve survived almost two weeks without a computer but it’s been nice to unplug. Plus, Pinkie the iPhone has helped make this time less miserable. In other news, I’m so sad the weekend is over! It was filled with rest, running, and reunions.

{After what was the toughest week yet at work, I wanted nothing more than to stay in on Friday and recuperate. My only mission for the evening was to purchase a new pair of running shoes. I drove to the ends of the Earth to pick up what is seemingly the last pair of Brooks PureCadence shoes anywhere. I’m hesitant to try the PureCadence 2’s with the half marathon only a few weeks away and I’ve heard mixed reviews about them, so I was determined to stick to what works. Of course I freaked out and ordered a second pair online so I’m set with running shoes for the time being. Come Saturday I was well-rested and extremely excited to conquer my long run. The 9 miles were challenging but felt great – I braved up and ran in a forest preserve but felt completely safe the entire time…I was rarely alone! I’m already looking forward to breaking in the double digits next week for 10 miles on the trail. Post-run fuel = the usual egg + cheese + avocado sandwich.}

{I traded in my running shoes for a pair of heels on Saturday night and headed to the city to celebrate my friend’s birthday. I love reuniting with my friends from high school because it’s always a guaranteed good time, and Saturday was no exception. We got “classy” with fancy jello shots (I know right) – aren’t they gorgeous? Yes, those are strawberries filled with tequila-infused jello and those rainbow jello shots have frosting on them and are filled with cake-flavored vodka. So delicious (but dangerous…sorry mom)! Needless to say, the night was quite wild but I’m not complaining :)}

Sunday Funday

{Sunday Funday! After waking up in a sleep-deprived state, we all headed to brunch at a restaurant called Waffles. I ended up ordering the ham & cheese waffle and it was the perfect recovery meal. The weather was beautiful so after fueling up we walked along the lake and made sure to take plenty of photos. We had so much fun together, I honestly can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard for hours at a time. Laughter really is the best therapy!}

One last thing – happy Easter to all those who celebrated! I’m Russian Orthodox and our Easter is the first week of May. I definitely experienced some egg/chocolate/food envy yesterday…

Also…IT’S APRIL. No comment.

Who has tried the Brooks PureCadence 2’s?

    Those shoes are so cute I think I would drive around just for that fact. Forget how they fit! LOL! JUST KIDDING 🙂 Yay for the 9 and upcoming 10!

    It’s so interesting your Easter is in May! What are the Russian Orthodox Easter traditions?

    Sounds like an awesome weekend!! And the lake is the best place to unwind 🙂

    Those shoes are BEAUTIFUL. I like to consider myself to be a pretty level-headed running shoe buyer and not be swayed by how pretty/ugly running shoes are…but ohhh man it’d be tough to say no to shoes like those. Congrats on your 9 miler!

    Those Brooks shoes look amazing! If I ever get bold enough with my running shoe purchases, I’d like to try the Mizunos. They have such a lovely logo imo. Right now I’m running in a pair of Fila running shoes purchased from Kohl’s, haha.

    I’m glad you had a fun weekend- you deserved it after such a tough week! I had a suuuper long week/weekend of work too but finally had today off which felt amazing!

    Your new shoes look awesome! I’ve never tried a pair of Brooks but I’ve heard really good things (:

    Sounds like you had a really fun weekend! I haven’t tried the PureCadence’s, but I recently bought a pair of Asics Lytes, a much more minimalist shoe than I’m used to. They’re great! Keep up the awesome training!

    No comment indeed on the April… It is still way too cold for my liking. Is Spring and Summer ever going to come. I am not sure I will be celebrating the coming of Fall like I did last year because it seems to have made these cold weather months last forever… I have never had a jello shot, but I sort of want to try one now lol

    I love those Brooks. I am a huge fan of non-white running shoes and the color on those shoes is gorgeous. I’ve been to Waffles before and really enjoyed it! I had the green-tea waffle and it was terrific. And those jello shots and other “treats” from your friend’s birthday look so pretty!!! =)
