Frames From The Weekend 5/10/2013 – 5/12/2013

Hey there! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a beautiful Mother’s Day. Special shout out to my amazing mom! I love you Mama, how did I get so lucky? Another special shout out goes out to my dad whose birthday was on Saturday. Love you too!

{After two weekends of travel I wanted nothing more than to “detox” my body. My mission was to have at least one salad a day (trust me, it’s hard for me…I’m a complete carb lover!) and I succeeded! Other randoms include new brown flats from Steve Madden, a fun new book to fuel my weekend traveling addiction, and a glass straw from Glass Dharma.}

{Even though I wasn’t traveling this weekend, I spent absolutely no time at home. I went to my sister’s on Thursday evening and spent the entire weekend in the city, only to arrive back home on Sunday. My sister and I had a great time together – we stayed in and watched a movie on Friday, slept in on Saturday, made an amazing breakfast featuring Russian cirniki (loosely translated to fried “cakes” made from farmer’s cheese) and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, and then went to get manicures. I hate to say that I literally got the worst manicure I have ever had…it was so awful that they didn’t even make me pay for it. #firstworldproblems}

{I finally came home on Sunday to celebrate both Mother’s Day and my dad’s belated birthday. We grilled up some veggies and steaks and enjoyed the delicious meal with some wine. Everything was fantastic!}

{My mom made this traditional Russian cake for dessert. It’s called Rizhik and is one of my childhood favorites. I had two slices alongside some Russian candies…sugar overload!}

I have a busy week/month ahead…big big BIG changes are coming my way and I’m starting to get excited/stressed/anxious/happy/sad/etc. Anyway, here’s to an awesome week ahead!

How was your Mother’s Day?

♥ Irina

    Happy belated Birthday to your dad!
    Big changes? Keeping my fingers crossed everything will work out as smooth as possible not stressing you too much. Not making any guesses right here I sense what it might be and am curious to find out more once you decide to share. Good luck!
    Your weekend once again sounds and looks like a great one. My Mother’s Day wasn’t special at all as I wasn’t with my family and we have never celebrated it in anyway. I did spend the days leading to it at my parents’, though, and they were absolutely blissful. Just like you I wonder time and time again how I got lucky to have the most awesome mum I could ever imagine. It makes me happy to hear that there are so many amazing mums in the world :).
    Happy Monday, Irina – and I didn’t forget about the mail I owe you!

    that russian cake looks amazing, I thought they were pancakes at first.

    Love me some Steve Madden (she said, as if she owned more than one pair of Steve Madden shoes…haha). The pair of Steve Madden flats I do have, though, are easily my favorite flats. They’re SO much more comfortable than other flats I own, and I don’t think they’ve ever given me blisters on my Achilles tendon, as most flats tend to do. Glad you got so much family time in this weekend, and good luck with all these big changes coming your way!

    Literally drooling over everything in this post. I don’t think I’ve ever really tried Russian food but it always looks amazing.
    I’m glad you had such a lovely, relaxed weekend (:
