Ahh the ever-elusive weekend post, who am I? I’m sure we’re all doing the happy dance because it’s the weekend. I plan to fully enjoy my two days here before flying back to Chicago tomorrow night.
Let’s talk about regretful purchases. Ever since I started daydreaming about my “big girl” apartment a few years ago, I’ve always envisioned it having one of those beautiful brass bar carts. So when I came across a seemingly perfect one from Target at a reasonable price, my excitement wiped away all logic and I ordered it without even looking at the measurements.
A week later this massive monstrosity came to my door:
I knew within 1.2 seconds that this bar cart was going back…I almost ran after the UPS man in hopes that he could drag it back with him. Anyway, now I have to deal with returning this stupid bar cart. I want it OUT of my apartment!
Another recent regretful purchase was this Larabar:
Larabars almost single-handedly got me through my freshman year of college and I adore them, but this pumpkin pie Alt Bar failed to impress. The flavor was off and the texture confused me.
Moving on from my rant…
Earlier this week I was sitting in my apartment and suddenly heard a hissing and banging noise. Upon further investigation I realized it was coming from my heaters in the living room and bathroom! Yes, I 100% thought I was going to die of gas poisoning for a good 5 minutes until I realized that the heat was turned on in my building.
These old-school buildings are just full of surprises! At least now I don’t need to wear 591310 layers around the apartment, but I suspect that the puny little heater won’t be very successful in heating my room in the dead of winter.
On the agenda today: a long run of 7 miles, sugar wax making (post coming soon I promise!), cleaning the apartment, and a possible night out. I somehow failed to realize until yesterday that people were actually celebrating Halloween this weekend so I’m considering avoiding all social scenes tonight and tomorrow to avoid my least-favorite holiday.
Who else has lived with one of these ancient batteries in their homes? Do they actually work well in the winter?
Alt Bars – yay or nay?
Are you celebrating Halloween this weekend?
