Frames From The Weekend 11/22/2013 – 11/24/2013

Hello hello! Despite the fact that it’s only Tuesday, there’s that ‘end of the week’ feel in the air thanks to the upcoming holiday. I adore Thanksgiving with all my heart and absolutely cannot wait for Thursday! Not to mention, I’m absolutely drained from this past weekend and desperately need the time off on Thursday and Friday. This post could also alternatively be called ‘How Not to Live Life‘ or ‘How to Completely Drain Yourself of all Energy’ because I tried to fit in too much into too little time, all while fighting off a pesky cold.

(Thanks to those who linked up with FFTW! Join the fun and link up by using this link!)

Let’s dissect this weekend…a friend was passing through the city and we basically ended up spending the entire weekend together. We met up at the Seafire Grill on Thursday for our reunion dinner where we proceeded to feast on the most fantastic steak, swordfish, oysters, tuna tartar, and even ice wine mixed with a few too many drinks. The rest of the weekend followed suit, minus the drinks.

{I obviously had nothing to wear for the weekend so I visited Macy’s and Lord & Taylor, where I snagged the W118 by Walter Baker top and the BCBGeneration skirt for only $40 and $30, respectively (originally $118 and $78)! BAM. I also couldn’t resist Lancome’s complementary gift set with a $40 purchase so I supplemented my necessary Rosy lipliner purchase with some gorgeous eye shadow. The gift set included eye creams (given to my mom), make-up brushes, mascara, blush, and a sparkly make-up bag. Come Friday my friend and I headed to Broadway to see the Chicago musical, which was phenomenal! Afterwards, we went to Meatpacking (where else, right?) for a few hours and then called it a night…in the morning ha.}

{I stayed alcohol-free on Friday because my last long run (!!!) was scheduled for the following morning. My Saturday = how not to live life. I stayed out very late in 4-inch heels, slept for only five hours, somehow ran 11 miles (9:04 min/mile average) in a sleep-deprived and slightly sick physical state, and went on a walking tour of lower Manhattan immediately after. I know right?!? I’m judging myself too, it’s nothing to be proud of! Especially because I ended up going out again at night afterwards….}

{As mentioned above, my friend and I continued our Saturday adventures with a night out in the West Village again. After a fancy dinner at Catch filled with plenty of raw fish and pumpkin doughnuts (topped with pumpkin ice cream and so so delicious), we headed to a few lounges in the area. I was a stealth runner and wore compression sleeves under my boots! The following morning I spent a few hours packing for Chicago and cleaning my apartment. My lady and I were taking the same flight back so we spent the remainder of our free time eating at Maison Kayser (ob.sessed.) and strolling around Central Park before heading to the airport.}

And now I’m completely dead. I’ve been subtly sick with a stuffy nose for 1.5 weeks already and yet I failed to give myself the necessary time off to recover. I love having visitors but it tends to take a serious effect on me. My introverted-ness (not a word, I know) functions in such a manner that I need some alone time once a day at minimum. Needless to say, I’m back in Chicago for the entire week and completely overwhelmed…this week is just getting started…

Have you ever pushed yourself too far? How much can you handle before feeling completely overwhelmed?

Are you a fan of raw fish? Oysters, sashimi, and tartars…oh my!

    Aw! At least it looks like you had an amazing time. Sometimes it’s okay to do a little too much- it’s fun to look back on. I hope you feel better though! Definitely take advantage of the holiday week/weekend to recover. (:

      You’re so right, I love the optimistic outlook on that 🙂 Sadly, the extended weekend didn’t do much to help me recover but it was all worth it. Hope you had a great holiday weekend as well!

    I love that top and skirt you got! It just somehow fits perfectly together 🙂

    Enjoy your holiday with the family 😀

      Thanks! It definitely does look like the two can fit perfectly together but sadly in real life I couldn’t get them to match and ended up wearing them on separate days 🙂 Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
