Marathon training week 5 is officially in the books! The temperatures are on the rise and my heat-hating self is starting to make an effort to complete all runs in the morning. I’m a complete evening runner so this has been brutal, but I’m not losing hope. It will happen!
P.S – I plan to do an official introduction for my charity soon! In the meantime, please please please don’t hesitate to donate here. Every bit helps, thanks!
WEEK 5 (6/2/2014 – 6/8/2014)
Monday: 60 min Vinyasa Yoga
Tuesday: 3 mile run (28:21 min @ 9:27 min/mi)
Wednesday: 60 min Cross-training (45 min Body Conditioning, 15 min abs)
3 mile run JPMC Corporate Challenge – 3.3 miles @ 8:27 min/mi
Saturday: 5 mile run (47:36 min @ 9:31 min/mi)
30 min bike Rest
TOTAL = 11.3 miles
Thoughts: It’s pretty clear that I’ve been slacking on the cross-training portion of my schedule. In all fairness (AKA my pathetic excuse), my friends are in town this weekend and I didn’t want to skip out on some quality time out with them. Next week will be even worse though because I’ll be in Chicago with no access to my gym/fitness classes.
On a better topic, I ran the JPMC Corporate Challenge with my company on Thursday evening in Central Park…stay tuned for a recap later this week! Overall, running was rough in week 5. My muscles felt non-functional during Saturday’s 5-miler, and I’m confident this was because I was running on empty despite eating 1.5 hours prior to hitting the streets. I’ve been tinkering my pre-run fueling lately, but that’s a post for another day.
