Frames From The Weekend 11/21/2014 – 11/23/2014

Hello from chilly Chicago! My weekend here has been incredible so far. Absolutely incredible. In the short span of these past three days I’ve managed to spend time with my family and see (almost) all my best friends. I might’ve even snuck in a night out downtown at my old stomping grounds…

I’ve been running at 100 MPH since touching down in the windy city on Saturday! Check it out:

{Friday: I had a mile-long to-do list before my early morning Saturday flight, so I spent the night running last minute errands around my apartment and the Upper East Side. This included buying the bestie some gifts from Urban Outfitters, replenishing my make-up necessities, finally hunting down those konjac sponges from Sephora, buying macarons to bring back to Chi, and eating a huge salad in a bowl twice the size of my head because my fridge had to be emptied.}

{Saturday: Oh what a day! My parents picked me up from O’Hare at noon and we immediately drove to Whole Foods to stock up on food. We even started Thanksgiving shopping and purchased a lovely organic, free-range turkey for the big day. I didn’t expect to do anything the rest of the day with the exception of seeing my dear Anya, but impromptu plans swept my free time away. I spent a few hours with Anya at her house swapping stories about her new life in L.A and my scandalous NYC adventures. And then I dyed my hair blonde! Just kidding…that’s just a wig. Come nighttime my bestie and I said our sad goodbyes and I headed into the city to reunite with my high school lovers. As expected, the night was nuts! We stayed in the River North area and even ran into a few of my other friends from work. Goodness I feel so lucky to have such wonderful and lasting relationships with my old friends.}

Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos from Sunday! Despite getting only a few hours of sleep, I managed to have a semi-productive day. The other bestie and I met up for some coffee + shopping + catching up for a few hours. I ended the night watching the American Music Awards with my parents. Perfection. I suspect I won’t be able to blog much this week, my schedule is overflowing with reunions over drinks and dinners! And we all know what’s coming on Thursday (THANKSGIVING BIATCHES!)

Quick running update before we part – I finished week two of no running and plan to proceed with week three of rest. I officially have zero pain in my shin and can easily pass the hop test without issue, leading me to believe that this injury isn’t the dreaded two words all runners fear. I’m tempted to run but want to ensure I heal completely before setting out again next weekend. It’ll be worth the wait!

Who else watched the AMAs?

American friends – where are you spending Thanksgiving?

    Hahaha that flask is hilarious. Sounds like you have a really fun week planned, and I’m glad to hear your shin is feeling better! Hopefully a little more rest will fix things up perfectly 🙂

    Hop hop hurrah on passing the test [it’s getting late and my jokes are getting lamer].Fingers crossed you’ll be able to run again next week. Until then I hope you’re having an absolute blast rushing from one reunion to the next.
    I obviously don’t have any Thanksgiving plans but enjoy yours and eat an extra helping of any chocolaty dessert for me 😀 . Pumpkin pie isn’t for me.

    YAY! So happy that you’re feeling better and my fingers are crossed that you’ll be back to running after next week. Taking this break will definitely pay off in the long run. 🙂

    Sending lots of love and happy thoughts your way! Even though I haven’t commented in a while, I’m always reading…and you look gorgeous as ever! xo
